The times he's seemed least like himself weren't when he was playing badly. They were during stretches when baseball was his only active sport.

His best stretches came when basketball was going too, or right after time away. It held with both hitting instructors. That doesn't prove basketball helped, but it's worth knowing before you drop it.

Questions parents ask

What do I actually have to enter?

Nothing formal. Type or dictate to Sidelane the way you'd text your spouse after a game, and add what you already have: photos, stat screenshots, spreadsheets and screenshots of coach messages. Sidelane files it under the right kid, sport and team. When you send a spreadsheet, name the child it's for.

Do I need to log every game or practice?

No. Share what you want, when you want. One message after a game is plenty, and skipping a week is fine.

What sports does Sidelane work with?

Any sport or activity. For sports with stats, like baseball, Sidelane can read box-score screenshots and stat spreadsheets. For activities without them, like dance, it works from what you tell it: teacher feedback, how the recital went, what your kid said. You can also save their videos to their profile.

Can I use Sidelane for more than one child?

Yes. Add each child as an athlete, with every sport they play. One plan covers the whole family.

Can both parents contribute?

Yes. The account owner can invite one other parent by email, text or link. Once they join, you both see and add to the same athlete profiles, and Sidelane draws on what both of you have shared.

Are my conversations with Sidelane private?

Yes. Your chats are private to your account, and the other parent can't read them. What Sidelane saves about your kids from those chats, like games, stats and moments, goes into the shared athlete profiles, so both parents can see it. See our Privacy Policy for details.

What can I upload?

In chat: photos and screenshots (up to 10 at a time) and spreadsheets (.xlsx, .csv or .tsv). On a child's profile: photos and videos (MP4, MOV or WebM). Sidelane reads photos, screenshots and spreadsheets. Videos are saved to the profile, but Sidelane doesn't watch them. You can also dictate messages in browsers that support it.

What if Sidelane gets something wrong?

Tell it in chat, for example "that was actually 3-for-4," "that was Mason, not Evan," or "forget that," and Sidelane corrects what it saved.

How does Sidelane use AI?

Sidelane uses AI models, provided through OpenRouter, Groq and Anthropic, to read what you share, organize it into each child's history, and draw on that history when you ask a question. It helps you think things through, but the decisions stay yours. It isn't medical, legal or psychological advice.

How does the free trial work?

After you create your account, choose monthly or annual. Both start with 14 days free. A card is required to start the trial. Cancel before the 14 days are up and you won't be charged. Otherwise your plan begins when the trial ends and renews until you cancel. Each account gets one free trial.

How much does Sidelane cost?

$9.99 a month or $100 a year. One plan covers the whole family: every kid, every sport, and a second parent.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. In the app, go to Account and choose Manage billing or cancel. Cancel during your trial and you won't be charged.
