SIDELANE

Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 2, 2026
This page is a working draft pending final legal review — not yet finalized.

1. Introduction

Sidelane ("Sidelane," "we," "us," or "our") helps parents keep and make sense of their children's youth sports lives. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to sidelane.co and the Sidelane app (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are stored in hashed form by our authentication provider, never in plain text.

2.2 What you share with Sidelane

We store the messages you send Sidelane and Sidelane's replies, so your conversations persist across sessions and devices. We also store what you choose to add: photos and screenshots you attach in chat, spreadsheets (such as .xlsx, .csv or .tsv stat exports), and photos and videos you upload to an athlete's profile, along with any captions. Because of what the Service is for, this content often includes information about your children, such as their names, birth years, sports, teams, coaches, games and stats, and things they have said or done.

If you use dictation, your browser or device converts your speech to text. Sidelane receives only the resulting text, not an audio recording.

2.3 Athlete profiles

Sidelane organizes what you share into an athlete profile for each child. A profile can include teams and seasons, a timeline of moments, performance records and stats, saved photos and videos, and insights that Sidelane generates from that history. This information is derived from what you and, if you invite one, the other parent share with Sidelane. We do not collect it from other sources.

2.4 Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not receive or store your full payment card number. We keep a record of your subscription status, plan, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and billing or trial dates.

2.5 Usage and technical information

We record operational information about how the Service is used, such as which features were used and how much AI processing a request required, to run, secure and improve the Service. Some of our web pages, such as our blog and policy pages, use Google Analytics to measure visits. The Sidelane app stores your sign-in session and some temporary data, such as cached pages and unsent drafts, in your browser.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your conversation content to train AI models.

4. Service Providers

We share information with these service providers, each acting on our behalf:

Our AI providers may keep information temporarily where needed to keep their services reliable, investigate abuse, or meet legal obligations. We do not allow them to use your conversation content to train AI models.

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Sharing With Another Parent

The account owner can invite one other parent or guardian by email, text message or link. Once the invitation is accepted:

Anything you tell Sidelane about your child can become part of the shared athlete profile, even though the conversation itself stays private.

6. Information About Your Children

Sidelane is intended for use by adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Information about your child in Sidelane is provided by you or by the other parent in your family, and it receives the same protections as the rest of your account data.

7. Your Choices

8. Data Retention

We keep your account information and the content you share while your account exists. Cancelling a subscription does not by itself delete your information. We have not yet published a fixed retention schedule. Contact help@sidelane.co to request deletion.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. Our backend limits access to your family's information to your account and, if you invite one, the other parent in your family. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

Sidelane is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts. If we become aware that a child has created an account, we will take steps to delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect.

12. Contact Us
